Acceptance of Repentance and Its Four Conditions
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A questioner from Algeria says: Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy. In the early part of my life, I was committed and wearing the hijab. Then my morals changed, and I followed the company of amusement and desires. I got married, but I committed adultery, and I had illicit relationships with a number of men. Then I regretted what I did of adultery and lewd acts. I am confused: Will Allah forgive my sins and accept my repentance? And what are the things I must do so that Allah forgives me and accepts my repentance?

And upon you be peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings:
Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Zumar: 53]. The scholars are in agreement that this verse is regarding those who repent. He the Exalted said: [Al-Anfal: 38]. And He the Exalted said: [Al-Nur: 31]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Riyad as-Salihin 710.
So we advise you to adhere to repentance, which is:
1- Regret for what has passed.
2- Abandoning sins.
3- A sincere resolve not to return to them.
By doing so, Allah forgives all that has passed. There is a fourth condition if the sin involves the right of another person. If you have a right owed to someone, whether a debt, a loan, theft, usurpation, or the like, then give him his right. By doing so, the repentance is completed, while observing the three previous conditions.
And be glad with good news. You should have good opinion of Allah, keep the company of good women, and increase in reading the Noble Qur’an and authentic hadiths.
We ask Allah for us, for you, and for all Muslims to be steadfast upon the truth, to be safe from the evils of the self and bad deeds, and from the whispers of Satan. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

And upon you be peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings:
Allah the Exalted says:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them
قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ يَنْتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَAnd turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ(embracing) Islam wipes out all that has gone before it (previous misdeeds). Verily, emigration wipes out all the previous sins
الإسلام يهدم ما كان قبله، والتوبة تهدم ما كان قبلهاSo we advise you to adhere to repentance, which is:
