The Reward of Prayer in Makkah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is the reward in all the mosques of the Noble Makkah, like the reward in the Haram; because many people pray in the mosques of Makkah and within the boundaries of the Haram, and they say that the reward is the same?

A: There is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding this issue. Some held that the multiplication is specific to what surrounds the Ka'bah, "al-Masjid al-Haram," which is the area around the Ka'bah, and that the multiplication of one hundred thousand prayers is only for the one who prays in the mosque surrounding the Ka'bah. Others among the scholars held that al-Masjid al-Haram encompasses the entire Haram, even though prayer in the area around the Ka'bah has a distinction and virtue due to the large congregation and the absence of disagreement on that point. However, the correct view is the second one, which is that the virtue encompasses [the whole area], and that the mosques in Makkah attain for the one who prays in them the multiplication mentioned in the hadith. Even if that may be less than the one who prays in al-Masjid al-Haram surrounding the Ka'bah, due to the large gathering, its proximity to the Ka'bah, seeing it, and being free from the disagreement on that point, but that does not prevent all the areas of Makkah from being called al-Masjid al-Haram, and the multiplication being attained in all of them, if Allah wills.
