The Ruling on Using the Term "Shahid" for a Specific Person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
To the honor of the father, the Shaykh / Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah protect him and watch over him).
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. As for what follows:
I hope you will grant me a fatwa on the ruling of using the term (shahid) for a specific person, such as saying: "The shahid so-and-so." Is it permissible to write this in magazines and books? May Allah reward you with good.
A: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that:
Whoever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named a shahid is called a shahid; such as the one who dies of the plague, the one who dies of a stomach ailment, the one who dies under a collapsed building, the one who drowns, the one killed in the path of Allah, and the one killed for his religion, or for his wealth, or for his family, or for his blood. However, all of them are washed and prayed over, except the shahid in battle, who is not washed and not prayed over if he dies in battle; because
The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not wash the shuhada of Uhud who died in the battle, nor did he pray over them.الرسول ﷺ لم يغسل شهداء أحد الذين ماتوا في المعركة ولم يصل عليهم
as al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
May Allah guide everyone to what pleases Him, and peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
