Does reciting the Qur'an reach the deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Well, my master, does reciting the Qur'an reach the deceased?

The Shaykh : If the recitation is by the children of the deceased.

The questioner: And the wife?

The Shaykh : Do you want me to answer you, or do you want to answer me?

The questioner: No, please go ahead.

The Shaykh : Yes, I am speaking to give you a comprehensive and definitive answer. I say that if the one reciting the Qur'an is a child of the deceased, whether a son or a daughter, then this recitation is beneficial. As for anyone other than the children, their recitation is not beneficial, except for the parents as I mentioned earlier. So, the wife, if she is pious, but without a doubt, as a wife afflicted by the death of her husband, you are able to supplicate for him. If he was a doer of good, then our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, will increase in his good deeds. And if he was a doer of evil, our Lord will overlook his evil deeds. Always, I mean, remember him with good and supplicate for him with good. As for you reciting and donating the reward of the recitation to the husband, that is finished; his deeds are cut off, as I mentioned in the previous hadith. The completion of this hadith is his saying, peace and blessings be upon him:
except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased). إلا من ثلاث صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به أو ولد صالح يدعوا له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
Do you have any children from him?

The questioner: I have five daughters and a son.

The Shaykh : The eldest?

The questioner: Ten years old.

The Shaykh : Ten, may Allah will that they live and be happy and do good so that their father benefits from them. And from now on, you are raising them in this manner.

The questioner: No problem, one last question, we have overwhelmed you.

The Shaykh : Please, go ahead.
