Carrying images during prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: What is the ruling on a man praying while he has in his pocket a wallet containing several cards with images on them, such as a driver's license, a work ID, and the like?

A: His prayer is valid, and carrying the image mentioned does not invalidate his prayer because he is compelled or in need of carrying it.
As for commemorative images and the like, it is not permissible to carry them or keep them in the house; rather, it is obligatory to destroy them. This is based on the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the Commander of the Faithful, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) :
Spare no portrait unwiped out, and leave not a high grave unlevelled.لا تدع صورة إلا طمستها ولا قبرًا مشرفًا إلا سويته
Riyad as-Salihin 1687
It was narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih. And because he (peace and blessings be upon him)
He prohibited images in the house and making themنهى عن الصورة في البيت، وأن يصنع ذلك
was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and others. And because it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) the hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that he entered upon her one day and saw a curtain with images in it, so his face changed and he tore it, saying:
The makers of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Bring to life that which you have created.'إن أصحاب هذه الصور يعذبون يوم القيامة ويقال لهم: أحيوا ما خلقتم
