If one enters while the imam is bowing, does he say the takbir for entering the prayer or for bowing?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: If I come to the mosque congregation and they are in the state of bowing in prayer, do I enter with them in this state, saying the takbir for entering the prayer and the takbir for bowing? And do I recite the supplication of opening the prayer or not?

A: If a Muslim enters the mosque and the imam is bowing, it is prescribed for him to enter with him in that state, saying two takbirs: the first for entering the prayer while standing, and the second for bowing when he bends down to bow. In this case, the supplication of opening the prayer and reciting al-Fatihah are not prescribed due to the shortness of time. This rak'ah suffices for him, as established in Sahih al-Bukhari from Abu Bakrah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he entered the mosque one day and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was bowing, so he bowed behind the row and then entered the row. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
May Allah increase your eagerness! But do not do it again.زادك الله حرصا ولا تعد
Sunan Abi Dawud 683Sahih (Al-Albani)
and he did not order him to make up the rak'ah, which indicates that it suffices, and that one who enters while the people are bowing does not have the right to bow alone, but it is obligatory for him to enter the row even if he misses the bowing, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Abu Bakrah:
May Allah increase your eagerness! But do not do it again.زادك الله حرصًا ولا تعد
Sunan Abi Dawud 683Sahih (Al-Albani)
And success is from Allah.
