Among the characteristics of the hypocrites is lagging behind in the Fajr prayer in congregation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A questioner says: I sometimes sleep late at night because I am tired and exhausted, and I am unable to perform the Fajr prayer except at home. Is that permissible? Another questioner asks for advice to be given to those who are lazy about performing the Fajr prayer in the mosque with the congregation.

A: It is obligatory for the male Muslim who has reached the age of accountability to perform all five prayers in the mosque with his Muslim brothers, and it is not permissible for him to be lax in this matter. Lagging behind in the Fajr prayer or any other prayer is among the characteristics of hypocrisy, as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: :
Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazilyإِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ قَامُوا كُسَالَى..
[Surat al-Nisa: 142]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the 'Isha' prayer and the Fajr prayer. If only they knew what (reward) there is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl.أثقل الصلاة على المنافقين صلاة العشاء وصلاة الفجر ولو يعلمون ما فيهما لأتوهما ولو حبوا
Sunan Ibn Majah 797Sahih (Darussalam)
It is agreed upon that it is authentic.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call and does not come, his prayer is not valid, except for those who have an excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأته فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Sunan Ibn Majah 793Sahih (Darussalam)
It was narrated by Ibn Majah, al-Daraqutni, and al-Hakim with a sound chain of narration.
A blind man came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have no guide to lead me to the mosque. Do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.فأجب
It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. If the blind man who has no guide to lead him has no excuse for leaving the congregational prayer, then others are even more obligated to attend.
It is obligatory for you, O questioner, to fear Allah , and to maintain the prayer in congregation for Fajr and the others, and to hasten to sleep early so that you are able to rise for the Fajr prayer. It is not permissible for you to pray in your house except for a valid legal excuse, such as illness or fear.
May Allah guide everyone to hold fast to the truth and remain steadfast upon it.
