Ruling on Abandoning the Fajr Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers from Riyadh, whose name is indicated by the letters (M. M. A), says: What is the ruling on abandoning the Fajr prayer?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation: Abandoning it in congregation is not permissible, as it resembles the people of hypocrisy. It is obligatory to pray it in congregation in the mosques; this is the obligation. One who delays it commits a sin, just as with the other prayers. It is obligatory to perform it in congregation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
It was asked of Ibn Abbas: What is the excuse? He said: Fear or illness. A blind man came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking his permission to pray in his house. He said: Do you hear the call to prayer? He said: Yes. He said:
Do you hear the call to prayer?
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.
This is a blind man who is seeking permission to pray in the house, and he has no guide. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Do you hear the call to prayer?
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.
If the blind man who has no guide is ordered to pray in congregation in the mosque, then the seeing man is even more so.
The point is: It is obligatory for the Muslim to pray all five prayers in the mosque with the congregation, even if he is blind. He must pray with the people, and it is not permissible for him to sit in the house and pray in the house. As for abandoning it entirely, this is disbelief. Abandoning Fajr, or Zuhr, or Asr, or Maghrib, or Isha is disbelief; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
So it is obligatory to be cautious.
My advice to every Muslim and every Muslim woman is to maintain the prayer at its time, and for the man to perform it in congregation in the mosques, and to fear Allah, and to be cautious of resembling the hypocrites, and to be cautious of abandoning it. As for intentionally abandoning it; this is from disbelief—we seek refuge in Allah. Yes, we ask Allah for well-being.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
