Ruling on wiping dust from the forehead after prayer

Q: We have heard people say: It is disliked to wipe dust from the forehead after prayer. Is there a basis for this?

A: As far as we know, there is no basis for this. Rather, it is disliked to do so before the taslim; because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that in some of his prayers, he would offer the taslim from the Fajr prayer on a rainy night, and the trace of water and mud would be seen on his face. This indicates that the best course is not to wipe it off before completing the prayer.
