Encouraging the one who leads people in prayer to make it easy

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: How do we reconcile the statement of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): "Are you a trial for people, O Mu'adh?" with his own action (peace and blessings be upon him), where it is established that he recited al-Baqarah, al-Imran, al-Ma'idah, al-A'raf, and others?

A: His intent (peace and blessings be upon him) was to encourage making the prayer easy when one is an imam leading people in prayer; based on his statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever leads the people, let him make it easy, for among them are the young, the old, the weak, and the one in need. And when he prays for himself, let him lengthen it as much as he wishes.أيكم أم الناس فليخفف فإن فيهم الصغير والكبير والضعيف وذا الحاجة وإذا صلى لنفسه فليطول ما شاء
.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) was the lightest of people in prayer in terms of completion, as Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
I prayed behind someone whose prayer was the most complete and the lightest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).صليت خلف أحد أتم صلاة ولا أخف صلاة من النبي ﷺ
It is agreed upon.
As for when he prays for himself, let him lengthen it as much as he wishes. And his recitation (peace and blessings be upon him) of al-Baqarah, al-Nisa, and al-Imran was in his tahajjud at night. May Allah guide them all.
