Does complete action consist solely of knowledge, or can it be confined to something other than knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Is perfection intended to be confined to knowledge alone?

The questioner : How?

The Shaykh : Perfection.

The questioner : No, of course not.

The Shaykh : So, if you have not achieved perfection in one aspect, you have achieved it in another.

The questioner : But if someone wants to declare an active role.

The Shaykh : He has an active role, so the previous question returns: is the active role confined in a specific way?

The questioner : But... he says, he says, he is doing it, but without a leader.

The Shaykh : You did not answer me.

The questioner : I mean, for example, I formed a philosophy around a specific matter...
The student : No, the Shaykh is asking you: is perfection confined to every piece of knowledge individually? You tell him no. Is productive action confined to knowledge alone? You tell him no. He is asking you to focus on something other than knowledge, whether it works or not.

The questioner : No, but...

The Shaykh : And peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. I mean, now...
The student : Knowledge is one of the conditions of perfection...

The Shaykh : I mean, now, do you imagine that every member of society would be a scholar in some field? Say no.

The questioner : Of course not.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : But no.

The Shaykh : And the sciences.

The questioner : That is the problem.

The Shaykh : O Shaykh, we need to build. We need to build upon the agreed-upon point, not agree and then move to another point without gaining anything. As long as it is impossible for every member of society to be equal in a certain knowledge, then let them be equal in performing what is obligatory for every member of this society in a certain knowledge. In a certain knowledge, I mean, for example, now you are giving an example. When you spoke with the preacher, well, let you be a scholar in tafsir, specializing in the science of tafsir, just as I specialize in the science of hadith. So it is not necessary that you be a second copy of Al-Albani, exactly like him. No, be you better than Al-Albani in another science. The point is that you benefit the ummah (the Muslim community) in a science in which you found someone who has specialized. And so you can apply this to all the sciences.
