The Ruling on Changing a Name for the Living and After Death

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
His refusal to change his name (Hazn, the grandfather of Ibn al-Musayyib)?

Answer:
Perhaps it was before he embraced Islam; but it has not reached us that he changed it. Look up Hazn in al-Taqrib.
Q: What is the meaning of his saying: "So the sense of estrangement remained among us"?
The Shaykh: From Hazn, meaning the word Hazn, it is as if it is a type of estrangement. They did not accept the name that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Sahl."
Q: After the death of their father, is it permissible for them to change it?
The Shaykh: It did not become famous, and it was not changed during his lifetime. Even if he died, his names are not changed.
The student: Hazn, with the same meter as the one before it, but ending with a nun: Ibn Abi Wahb ibn 'Amr ibn 'A'idh ibn 'Imran ibn Makhzum, a Companion, who was martyred at al-Yamamah, and he is the grandfather of Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib. Al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud.
