Is it permissible to burn flies and other harmful insects in the house with an electric device?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. He says: Is it permissible to burn flies and other harmful insects in the house with an electric device, or not?

The Shaykh : It seems he is referring to what people use nowadays, which they hang up like a chandelier, and it catches mosquitoes, flies, and the like. Our answer to this is: there is nothing wrong with it. There is nothing wrong with placing these things, because the death of these insects is due to electrocution, not burning. And if it is due to electrocution, not burning, then there is nothing wrong with it.
Rather, even if it were due to burning, and their harm could not be repelled except by this, there is nothing wrong with it. This is based on what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated about a prophet from among the prophets:
That an ant stung him, so he ordered the burning of the entire ant colony. Then Allah the Exalted said: Why not just one ant? أنه لسعته نملة ، فأمر بإحراق قرية النمل كلها ، فقال الله تعالى : هلا نملةً واحدة
.
This indicates that if one is unable to repel these harmful creatures except by burning them, there is nothing wrong with it, because the person did not intend to torture them, but rather intended to destroy them, and there is no way for him except that.
