What is the distinction between discovering the presence of impurity during the prayer versus after it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The distinction is that if it occurred during the prayer, or if this was the case?

The Shaykh : It is based on the principle we mentioned earlier, that it is a condition. However, since it is reported in the Sunnah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed while carrying impurity, and Jibril came down and informed him, so he continued in his prayer. For example, when he continued in his prayer after remembering that he was in a state of major ritual impurity, he went and performed the full ritual bath, and completed it. Whereas 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, when he remembered the major ritual impurity after praying the dawn prayer, he repeated it. This is the principle. The default is for a person to follow this principle, except for what is excluded from it.

The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you with good.
