The Ruling on Prostrating to Other Than Allah the Exalted

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Prostrating to an idol?

Answer:
Prostrating to an idol is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), whether to the idol, or to the occupant of a grave, or to a ruler, or to Zayd or 'Amr. Prostrating to other than Allah is major shirk. Allah says:
So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him].فاسْجُدُوا لله واعْبُدُوا
[An-Najm 53:62]
.
Q: Do they say: You must believe, O Shaykh?
A: No, no, this is whenever he prostrates to other than Allah; it is disbelief (kufr).
Q: Did they compare it to the prostration of Mu'adh to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A: No, no, this is the prostration of Mu'adh. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) alerted him that no one prostrates to anyone, and he said:
If I were to order anyone to prostrate to anyone, then I would order the wife to prostrate to her husband.لو كنت آمرًا أحد أن يسجد لأحد، لأمرت المرأة أن تسجد لزوجها
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1159Hasan (Darussalam)
. As for the prostration of the brothers of Yusuf, that was in the law of those before us; it was a prostration of greeting. And the prostration of the angels to Adam was a prostration of honor and greeting; that is specific. But in our law, there is no prostration to other than Allah
So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him].فاسْجُدُوا لله واعْبُدُوا
[An-Najm 53:62]
.
