The Ruling on Three-Dimensional Children's Toys in the Shape of Humans or Animals

Question:
What is the ruling on children's toys that are three-dimensional in the shape of animals or humans? Are they permissible, or not? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The scholars have differed on this. Some of them permitted them because they are treated with contempt, similar to the image on a carpet or cushion. They said that this toy is treated with contempt, as children play with it. Others among the scholars of knowledge said that it is forbidden because it is an image covered by the hadiths, and it is not of the same kind as a carpet or the like. Therefore, the safest course is to leave it off, and to amuse them with something else, or to remove their heads so that they become images without heads, until they play with them without heads.
