Advice for one who is afflicted with relatives who permit free mixing and shaking hands with women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message reached the program from one of the listening brothers. The sender is: (A. H. M. al-Wud'ani). Our brother’s message is somewhat lengthy. He says in it: “My wife and I have committed to the Islamic Shari'ah only three years ago, where we cut the tie of free mixing with non-mahram relatives, and I prevented myself from shaking hands with women. My wife committed to the hijab, and I told her that shaking hands with non-mahram men is forbidden, so she was convinced and did not greet men who are not her mahram. However, my relatives and my wife’s relatives were not pleased with this and cut us off unless we return to free mixing, handshaking, and removing the hijab. We cannot return to the disobedience of Allah that they are calling us to, after Allah has guided us to the right path. However, my wife is affected and not at ease, and her mother has cut us off and sworn that neither I nor her daughter will greet her until we return to the old ways and greet the near and the far as we used to do before. This will not happen, because it is an action contrary to the Islamic Shari'ah, and
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق
Mishkat al-Masabih 3696
So I ask you, O honorable Shaykh, to clarify this for us and for these people, so that our hearts are not afflicted with illness. May Allah reward you with good.”

Answer:
You have done well, and praise be to Allah. We ask Allah for steadfastness for you upon the truth, and safety from misleading trials. We advise you to remain steadfast on what you are upon, and not to obey those people, even if they cut you off. Do not obey them even if they cut you off, because of the hadith mentioned in the question. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق
Mishkat al-Masabih 3696
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
So you must adhere to what you are upon of uprightness, and not mix with those who disobey Allah, and not shake hands with foreign men, and likewise not be lax in prayer, and not travel in a way that Allah does not approve of. All of this requires you to be upright constantly in the company of the good, and not in the company of the evil, and to maintain prayer at its times in congregation, and not to shake hands with women. Neither the man shakes hands with a foreign woman, nor the woman shakes hands with a foreign man. She shakes hands with her mahram, such as her brother or her uncle, and there is no harm in that. But with foreigners, no. The man does not shake hands with a foreign woman, and the woman does not shake hands with a foreign man. So fear Allah, and be steadfast, and be glad of good, even if people cut you off, even if they cut you off, even if they boycott you. You are upon the truth and they are upon error. We ask Allah for steadfastness for us and for you upon the truth, and we ask Allah for guidance for everyone.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
