Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She has another question, somewhat lengthy, in which she asks and says: She swore that if she were blessed with a daughter, she would name her Huda. When the daughter was born and she wanted to name her, the husband’s father refused. What is required of her?

Answer:
It is prescribed that they agree on a name that... and she should not contradict them. If her husband or his father is not pleased, she must expiate her oath, and praise be to Allah. They should choose a name that pleases them all, and she owes the expiation for the oath: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If she is unable to do so because she is poor, she should fast for three days, and praise be to Allah. She should not disobey them regarding the name they want. Her husband’s father has a right. If she agrees with them on a name other than Huda, she must expiate her oath, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
