The ruling on following a person praying alone

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The third issue our brother asks about in this session is: What is the ruling for a person who prays alone, and then another person comes and prays behind him? Does the reward of congregational prayer count for them, or not? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The correct view is: There is no harm in that, there is no harm in that. It is permissible for him to follow this person who is praying alone, and they will obtain the reward of the congregation. This is because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to pray alone, so Ibn Abbas came and lined up on his left side in the night prayer, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) moved him to his right side and prayed with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had entered the state of prayer alone, then Ibn Abbas came, and joined him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left him as he was and prayed with him, placing him on his right.
It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw a man who entered after the prayer had been missed, so he said:
Who will give charity to this man by praying with him?من يتصدق على هذا فيصلي معه؟
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:694
.
The point is: It is permissible for the person who is making up a missed prayer to be the imam, or for someone to come and have missed the prayer, so he starts by saying the takbir and prays alone, and then a person comes and lines up on his right, or a group comes and they place him in front of them, there is no harm. The correct view is: There is no harm .... And from this, it is known that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray alone, so Jabir and Jabbar from the Ansar came and lined up on his right and left, so he placed them behind him and prayed with them, and he had entered the state of prayer alone (peace and blessings be upon him). This indicates that if a person ... prays alone, and then someone comes and lines up on his right, there is no harm. If he lines up on his left, he moves him to his right. If they are a group of two or more, he places them behind him. This is the Sunnah. Yes.
