Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Yemen, Hajjah Governorate. The sender of the message is a listener from there, who says in his message: I live in a village where shirk (associating partners with Allah) and ignorance prevail, and whenever I advise its people, they do not listen to my advice. They perform slaughtering and make vows to other than Allah . And when I prevent them or advise them, they say to me: You are one who associates partners with Allah. What should I do? Am I in the right? Should I distance myself from them, or should I remain in the village while striving against myself and them? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon whoever follows his guidance.
As for what follows: We advise you, O brother, to remain with them, and to strive for yourself and for them through teaching, guidance, direction, and advice; perhaps Allah will guide them through your means. And you will have a reward like theirs if Allah guides them through your hands; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1893a.
So be patient and seek reward, and do not hasten. Call upon Allah for their guidance, and you are in a great state of goodness. This is how the messengers (peace and blessings be upon them) were patient, so take them as your example (peace and blessings be upon them). And Allah says: [Az-Zumar: 10]. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted, and the prophets were afflicted, so they were patient. So you should take them as your example (peace and blessings be upon them). If the people of this village are engaged in shirk (associating partners with Allah), calling upon the dead, seeking aid from the dead, the people of the graves, or making vows for them, or slaughtering for them; this is major shirk, this is the religion of the polytheists.
So it is obligatory for them to abandon that, and to repent to Allah from it. And it is upon you to advise them constantly, and to be patient until Allah guides them through your means. And you are in a great state of goodness. Do not be distressed, do not be weary, and do not leave the village except if you find someone to take your place, through whom the objective is achieved. Otherwise, remain in the village, strive in da'wah (calling others to Islam), and endeavor to seek someone who will help you and assist you in this great da'wah. May Allah make your affairs easy, and bless your efforts, and guide your companions.
The presenter: O Allah, amen, O Allah, amen, and may Allah reward you with good.
