The ruling on keeping a dog to guard the house

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: His mother keeps a dog that guards their house and farm, but when it gives birth to puppies, she poisons these puppies and kills them. He asks about the ruling: does she owe an expiation? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Keeping a dog for farming, for sheep, or for hunting is permissible. However, keeping it in the house as a guard for the house is not permissible; this is not recommended. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a dispensation for dogs in three cases: for farming, for livestock, and for hunting. Anything else is prohibited. She has no right to kill the puppies, her offspring; she has no right to kill the dog’s children. Rather, if she does not want them when they grow up and no longer need their mother, she should move them away. As for killing them, no. As long as their mother is nursing them, no, until they grow up and no longer need her. When they grow up and no longer need their mother, they should be moved away. Before that, moving them away is killing. Do not kill them, neither with poison nor by any other means. Yes, we ask Allah for well-being.
