The Ruling on a Woman Using Cosmetics

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner asks about the cosmetics that women use: do you advise them to continue using them, or to stay away from them, especially if they affect the ablution? Because some of the adornments, when they adhere to the fingernails, are difficult to remove? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Cosmetics are subject to detailed ruling: if they are adhesive, like what is placed on the fingernails, namely nail polish, then they should be left off, and it is not good to do so. If she does use them, they must be removed when performing the ablution; it is obligatory that they be removed when performing the ablution, because they prevent the ablution.
Likewise, if they cause spots or a disease on the face, they must be left off. As for something that does not impose a burden, such as kohl, or placing dye on the lip, or red dye on the lip, there is nothing wrong with that. The point is that cosmetics that do not cause harm, are not forbidden, and do not involve difficulty, such as kohl, adorning the lip with dye, or with what they call "dirq," or adorning the hands and feet with henna, all of this is permissible. As for something that causes harm to the face, or covers the skin during the ablution, this must be removed. The thing that causes harm to the face should not be done. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
