The Ruling on Memorizing the Qur'an and Studying Tajwid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from the listener Muhammad in Dammam. He says: I want to memorize the Noble Qur'an, so I ask for your guidance on which method is the easiest. Also, am I required to memorize the Qur'an with tajwid, as some of my brothers advised me, or is tajwid not a condition for people like me? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Memorizing the Qur'an is recommended, and tajwid is recommended; it is not obligatory. If you memorize it, that is recommended, or if you memorize whatever is easy for you of it, that is good. Tajwid is likewise; there is much good in it for perfecting the reciter's pronunciation of the Qur'an, improving his recitation. In the hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Adorn the Qur'an with your voicesزينوا القرآن بأصواتكم
And Allah says:
and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation.وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا
[Al-Muzzammil: 4].
So, through tajwid, the voice is improved and the words are delivered in the most perfect manner. If one reads in the Arabic language and gives it its due, even if he does not know tajwid, there is no blame on him. But if he knows tajwid and recites with it without overexerting himself, that is better.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
