The Ruling on Repeating 'Umrah and Bestowing Its Reward on Others

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by a listener who says: Your brother in Allah, Hayil Musahim Muhammad Abu al-Muhdi, says: Regarding 'Umrah, Allah has guided me and some of the brothers to visit the Noble Mosque of Makkah to perform the rites of 'Umrah. Since I performed 'Umrah for myself, and three other 'Umrahs which I bestowed upon my parents and my wife in that order, and in each 'Umrah I would exit the state of ihram and go to Tan'im to enter ihram for the next one, and since this action was a subject of debate between me and the brothers regarding its permissibility, please provide information about this action, its method, its ruling, and its permissibility? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The correct view is that there is no harm in that, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
An Umra is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the next, and Hajj which is accepted will receive no other reward than Paradise.العمرة إلى العمرة كفارة لما بينهما، والحج المبرور ليس له جزاء إلا الجنة
Sahih Muslim 1349a
It is agreed upon as authentic, and no specific time interval was specified between the two 'Umrahs. However, if the situation causes inconvenience to the pilgrims, and involves harm and crowding, then it is better to leave that until a time of spaciousness. As for if the time is spacious, and there is no harm to anyone, then there is no blame in that -if Allah wills- if the one performing 'Umrah on their behalf is deceased, or incapacitated, unable to perform 'Umrah or Hajj due to old age, or an illness that is not expected to end. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and if they are strong, Your Eminence the Shaykh?

The Shaykh : No, one does not perform 'Umrah on their behalf, and one does not perform Hajj on their behalf, ... strong ... one does not perform Hajj on their behalf, and one does not perform 'Umrah on their behalf, but rather Hajj and 'Umrah are performed on behalf of an elderly person who is unable to perform Hajj, or a sick person whose illness is not expected to end.

The presenter : May Allah bless you, who did that, Your Eminence the Shaykh?

The Shaykh : In Hajj, no. Whoever performed Hajj for someone who does not qualify, whoever performed Hajj or 'Umrah for someone for whom it is not valid, it becomes for him, his Hajj becomes for him.

The presenter: What Allah willed, may Allah reward you with good, and may Allah reward you.
