Ruling on sitting with the wife of one’s wife’s father

Question:
A message was received by the program from the listener (M. A. al-Ja'fari) from Yemen. He says in his message: Is it permissible for my uncle’s wife, who is my wife’s father’s wife and not my wife’s mother, to sit and talk with me while uncovering her face, or not? I ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
She is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) to you. She does not have that right, and you do not have the right to be alone with her, nor does she have the right to uncover herself before you, because she is not a mahram to you. The mahram is the mother of the wife and her mother. As for the wife of her father, she is not a mahram to you. Therefore, it is obligatory for you to advise her and explain the Islamic ruling to her so that she covers herself from you, and you should not be alone with her either. May Allah guide them all.
