Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Among her questions, she asks: Is it permissible for a woman to sit with her father-in-law if she is compelled to do so, provided that the woman is covered, wearing the hijab that covers her head and her entire body?

Answer:
Yes, she may sit with her husband’s brother or her husband’s uncle, provided a third person is present and there is no suspicion. However, she may not be alone with her husband’s uncle or her husband’s brother; seclusion is not permissible for her. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No person should be alone with a woman except when there is a Mahram with herلا يخلون رجل بامرأة إلا ومعها ذو محرم
Sahih Muslim 1341a
Seclusion is not permissible for her. But if she sits with her husband’s brother or her husband’s uncle in the presence of her father, her mother, or her sisters, there is no harm. Seclusion with a mahram is not permissible. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
