Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence is asked: When a woman prays in her home, does she call the adhan and iqamah for prayer in secret, or aloud? And is it permissible for a man to pray with his wife? If that is permissible, where does she stand, behind him or to his right? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Women are not required to call the adhan or iqamah; the adhan and iqamah are the exclusive domain of men. She prays without an adhan or iqamah. If he and she pray the night prayer together, or if he is ill and prays with her, there is no harm. Otherwise, it is obligatory for him to pray in congregation in the mosques. However, if it is the night prayer, or if he is ill and unable to pray in the mosque, and he prays with her, there is no harm. But she must stand behind him, not to his right and not to his left. Her position is behind him in both the obligatory and voluntary prayers. Yes.
