The Ruling on Killing Oneself and the Ruling on the One Who Does It
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first message in this episode is from Jeddah, sent by listener Majdi Ahmad Yahya. Is the one who kills himself among those who will remain in the Fire forever? If so, will he be prayed over, buried in the Muslim cemeteries, will his family be consoled for him, and will forgiveness be sought for him?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: Killing oneself is among the greatest of major sins and among the most serious of crimes. Allah has forbidden the servant to kill himself. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Nisa: 29], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3257Sahih (Al-Albani), thus he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3257Sahih (Al-Albani), whether with an iron bar, a sword, a rifle, or otherwise.
Therefore, it is obligatory to be cautious, even if one is afflicted with hardship, severe illness, anxiety, or otherwise. He must fear Allah and guard against killing himself. However, he will not remain in the Fire forever in the manner of the disbelievers; he is of the same category as the rest of the people of sins, subject to the will of Allah the Exalted. Allah the Exalted said in His great Book: [Al-Nisa: 48]. Thus, killing oneself is among the sins that are less than shirk (associating partners with Allah), so it is subject to the will of Allah. If Allah wills, He will pardon him, and if He wills, He will punish him according to the crime he committed. Then, after purification and testing, Allah will take him out of the Fire into Paradise because of his tawhid (the oneness of Allah), his faith, and his Islam with which he died. Yes.

وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًاIf anyone kills himself with something, he will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.
من قتل نفسه بشيء عذب به يوم القيامةIf anyone kills himself with something, he will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
