The ruling on a woman exposing the backs of her feet in prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She says: I wear a dress that exposes the front of the foot. Is it permissible to pray in it?

Answer:
No, the obligation according to the majority of scholars is that the foot must be covered, either with ample clothing or with socks. This is what came from Umm Salimah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she was asked: “O Mother of the Believers! Does a woman pray in a thobe and a head covering?” She said: “If the thobe is long enough to cover the backs of her feet.”
The position of the majority of scholars is that a woman’s entire body is 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) in prayer. Her entire body is 'awrah in prayer except for her face, and there is no harm in exposing it; in fact, it is a recommended practice (sunnah) to expose it in prayer if there is no non-mahram (a relative one may not marry) present, meaning anyone other than her mahram. As for the hands, there is scholarly disagreement (khilaf) among the scholars.
The correct view is that there is no harm in exposing them, but covering them is better. As for the feet, it is obligatory to cover them, either with ample clothing such as a long shirt or a long wrap, or with socks. Yes.
