The Duration of Absence from the Wife
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: A listener from Sudan, Ahmad ibn Allah Babakir from the Dukka forces, sent a question saying: I am married, praise be to Allah, and I have three daughters and a son. My wife is extremely kind, but I am forced to be absent from them for three to four months. Is there any sin on me for that?
Answer:
There is no blame on you for that if you are absent for a need or benefit, such as seeking knowledge or seeking a livelihood, or causing the seeking of a livelihood, or similar needs that compel you to travel. And if they are in a safe place where there is no danger to them—no danger to the woman and no danger to the children—then there is no blame in that. However, if the travel is for what Allah has forbidden, then it is not permissible for you. Or if there is danger to them when you leave them—danger to the woman in her honor and danger to your children—then it is obligatory for you not to travel. If you do travel, then move them with you so that they are by your side and near you, and do not be negligent in their rights. They are a trust in your care.
So it is obligatory for you to protect them and shield them from danger. Either you travel with them or you stay with them. However, if there is someone with them who protects and cares for them, such as your father or your brother or the like, and there is no danger and no reasons that necessitate your staying, then praise be to Allah. Yes.
