Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the listening brothers, saying: (Abdullah. F.) Brother Abdullah says in one of his questions: Due to work circumstances, economic life, and livelihood, we are forced to be absent from our wives for a year, two years, or more. How do you guide us, and what is the ruling? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh: Repeat.
The presenter: He says: Due to work circumstances, economic life, and difficult conditions, we are absent from our wives for a year, two years, or more. How do you guide us? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
There is no blame on you in that in case of dire necessity, if the dire necessity calls for it; so there is no blame in that; because seeking lawful sustenance is a required matter, and it may not be possible for a person to keep the duration short. So if he is forced to a long duration; there is no blame in that, especially if the wife consents and permits it. But if she does not consent, he should take her with him, that she be with him in his journey; because that is more protective of his private parts, and her private parts, and more clearing of the conscience, and better in the outcome -if Allah wills- Otherwise, he should determine days, or months, that you and the woman agree upon, that he is absent, then he returns to seek sustenance, and he should try for that according to his ability.
And Allah says: [al-Talaq:2] [al-Talaq:4] And He the Exalted says: [al-Taghabun:16] Try to agree with her on a known duration that you are absent for seeking sustenance, or try that you take her with you, or try her permission if you do not fear for her fitnah, nor for yourself, yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
