The ruling on a man being away from his wife for a long period in pursuit of livelihood
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks and says: What is the consequence for a man who travels in search of work and leaves his wife for a year? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
We advise him to shorten the period, so that the period is short; so that his family does not fall into danger, or she travels with him if possible, she is with him in the journey if possible; because the time is dangerous, and trials are many, so it is obligatory for the husband to be cautious of what harms his wife, or exposes her to evil and corruption, and there is no doubt that a long period may lead to danger for the wife, and also she needs her husband just as he needs her, so he may fall into danger due to the length of the period, and she may fall into danger.
So the advice is that it should not be prolonged; rather, he should alternate between his work and his wife for a month, three months, two months, or four months. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had set a period of six months for the mujahideen and those stationed at the frontier, but in the present time, the situation is more dangerous, and six months is too long. A person of sound mind should guard against the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) for himself and for his wife, and the period should be short, out of caution against the causes of fitnah. Yes.
The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
