The ruling on the bride wearing a white dress on the wedding night

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is your opinion, if you would be so kind, regarding the bride’s use of the white dress, which has become a custom in most countries, especially since this dress is expensive and the bride uses it only on the wedding night?

Answer:
I do not know of any basis for it. People should bring the bride in ordinary clothes that involve no exaggeration or extravagance, and they should not imitate the actions of the disbelievers. Rather, the believing man and woman, and all believers, should seek out what involves no exaggeration, no imitation of the enemies of Allah, and no imitation of men. As for this white dress, if it does not involve imitating men or disbelievers, but is worn by women in the women’s style, tailored by women, and sewn by women, then there is no harm in it. However, if it involves exaggeration and high cost, or imitation of the enemies of Allah, or imitation of men, then it is not permissible. And Allah is the One to be asked for help. Yes.
