The ruling on praying behind a man who used to deal with jinn and then repented

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message from a listener: (S. S. 'A) from Makkah al-Mukarramah says: We have an imam of the mosque in the village where we live, and this imam treats people by dealing with jinn, and he is a folk doctor. This imam says that he has repented from that dealing and has begun to follow a correct path... What is your opinion? Do we continue to pray behind this imam?

Answer:
This requires asking the people of expertise about it, from the righteous, the good, and the trustworthy. If you know of his repentance, then praise be to Allah, there is no objection to his remaining in the mosque and praying behind him. However, if he is suspected of continuing his bad work and using jinn, then one should not pray behind him. Rather, it is obligatory to rebuke him and report his case to the responsible authority, the Commission, or the court, so that he is prevented from this bad work and disciplined as he deserves. But when his repentance and return to Allah are established, and his abandonment of this bad work is confirmed through trustworthy and reliable people, or through the court, then there is no harm in praying behind him. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
