What is the virtue of reciting Surat al-Mulk and the ruling on reciting on behalf of others?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I know that reciting Surat al-Mulk every night has a great virtue. Is it permissible for me to recite it on behalf of my father and mother every night, given that they are unable to read or write?

The Shaykh: Repeat.

The presenter: I know, and praise be to Allah, that reciting Surat al-Mulk every night has a great virtue. Is it permissible for me to recite it on behalf of my father and mother every night, given that they are unable to read or write?

Answer:
There is no basis for reciting on behalf of someone else; rather, you recite for yourself. The hadiths regarding the virtue of reciting it every night are also weak. However, strive to recite the Qur'an from its beginning to its end; whenever you complete a recitation, start it again—may Allah reward you with good—for yourself, not for your parents. Rather, recite the Qur'an hoping for the reward of Allah for yourself. If you make du'a' for your parents or give charity on their behalf, you will be rewarded.
As for recitation, do not recite on behalf of anyone; recite for yourself, hoping for the reward of Allah. This is what is prescribed. There is no authentic hadith regarding the recitation of Surat al-Mulk every night. However, recite from the beginning of the Qur'an to its end. Whenever you complete it, return to it, and you will be in a state of great good, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its people on the Day of Resurrection.اقرؤوا القرآن فإنه يأتي شفيعًا لأصحابه يوم القيامة
, and he said:
Whoever recites the Qur'an, he will have a good deed for every letter, and the good deed is multiplied tenfold.من قرأ القرآن فله بكل حرف حسنة، والحسنة بعشر أمثالها
, so you are in a state of good, if Allah wills.
