The ruling on the prayer of one who covers only one shoulder
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person does not cover just one shoulder in prayer while being ignorant of the ruling, is his prayer invalid?
Answer:
His prayer is valid. If he covers both or just one, that is sufficient, if Allah wills. The recommended practice is to cover both, and it is obligatory to cover either one or both. If he covers one, that is sufficient; because it came in the authentic hadith:Bulugh al-Maram 2:72 So if he places something of it on one shoulder, or on both shoulders, that is more complete. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place his cloak on both his shoulders.

None of you should offer Salat (prayer) in a single garment with no part of it on his shoulders.
