Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The imam is shaven, and I am accustomed to praying with him, and I see him in this state. Is my prayer valid or not? And what is the evidence for this? May Allah reward you.
Answer:
Shaving the beard is a sin without doubt. It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: It is agreed upon that it is authentic. He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih. He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sahih Muslim 260 Muslim narrated it in his Sahih.
These authentic hadiths, and what has come in their meaning, all indicate the obligation to let the beard grow, to keep it full, to let it hang down, and the prohibition of shaving it or cutting it. They also indicate the obligation to trim the mustache, to cut it, and not to let it grow long.
Abu Muhammad Ibn Hazm said: The scholars agreed that letting the beard grow, keeping it full, and trimming the mustache is an obligatory matter. It is not befitting for a person of intellect, nor for a Muslim, to imitate those whom he sees shaving. Those who shave their beards are not role models, so it is not befitting to follow their example, even if they are many. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-An'am: 116].
The believer strives to imitate the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), his noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) , and those who followed them with excellence. As for those who opposed their path, they are not considered role models. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [Al-Ahzab: 21]. And He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [An-Nisa: 80]. And He (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Al-Hashr: 7]. There are many verses in this meaning.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 7280 It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Who refuses? He said: Sahih al-Bukhari 7280 Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih. We ask Allah to guide us and all Muslims to follow His Shari'ah and to hold fast to what His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, and to protect us from obeying desires and Satan.

Cut short the moustaches and let the beards grow, and differ from the polytheists.
قصوا الشوارب وأعفوا اللحى خالفوا المشركينCut your mustaches and let your beards grow, and be unlike the polytheists
قصوا الشوارب ووفروا اللحى خالفوا المشركينTrim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.
جزوا الشوارب وأرخوا اللحى خالفوا المجوسThese authentic hadiths, and what has come in their meaning, all indicate the obligation to let the beard grow, to keep it full, to let it hang down, and the prohibition of shaving it or cutting it. من أطاعني دخل الجنة ومن عصاني فقد أبى
