The ruling on one who bows while the imam is prostrating for the prostration of recitation

Question:
The brother A. A. S. from Tamir in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia says in his question: The imam said the takbir and prostrated for the prostration of recitation, but some of the ma'mum, especially the women, bowed thinking that he had said the takbir for bowing, and they did not realize it until after he had risen from the prostration. What is required of them? And what is required of them if the opposite happens, such that the imam says the takbir for bowing, but some of the ma'mum prostrate for the prostration of recitation, thinking that the imam prostrated for the prostration of recitation?
Answer:
It is required of the one who bowed while the imam was prostrating for the prostration of recitation, and he did not know until after the imam had risen, to follow him in the rest of the prayer, and he owes nothing; because he did not know what the imam had done. Likewise, if the imam bowed and the ma'mum thought he was prostrating, he should rise, and when he is fully standing, he should bow, then rise, then follow his imam in the rest of the prayer, and he owes nothing, because he did not intentionally contradict him, but rather he was ignorant of the reality. And success is from Allah.
