A question regarding the ruling on a man praying at home without a congregation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
May Allah preserve the esteemed Shaykh, Abdul Aziz ibn Baz.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I am a young man in the early stages of my life. I have lived in this blessed land since childhood, though I am not a native of it. Then Allah decreed that I must return to my home country out of necessity to complete my studies there. However, I fear for myself that I will be lost and fall back into sin, as the teacher is either Christian or Jewish, and free mixing of men and women in the school is unavoidable. Also, the prayer is not established there except in a mosque that is very, very far away, which I cannot reach except on Friday (and that only sometimes). I do not find any neighbors who pray with me in congregation (meaning that I always pray at home). I miss the Friday prayer more often than I pray it in the mosque.
I ask your eminence to clarify for me the ruling on my praying at home without a congregation, and whether I am excused for missing the Friday prayer if I am unable to reach the mosque. I also ask your eminence to pray for my steadfastness, and may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. After that: If the reality is as you mentioned in the question, then it is not permissible for you to remain in this town or to study in it; because of the danger that poses to your religion and your morals. It is obligatory for you to hasten to return to the country from which you left. I will intercede for you, if Allah wills, so that you can obtain sound studies in a safe place. May Allah make your affairs easy and the affairs of every Muslim.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
