The Ruling on Congratulating One Another on the Arrival of Ramadan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We received a message from Pakistan from Qamar al-Zaman Irfan of Pakistan. He asks: What is the ruling on welcoming Ramadan, giving glad tidings of it, and exchanging congratulations regarding it among friends and companions?
Answer: Ramadan is a great, blessed month in which Muslims rejoice. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions used to rejoice in it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give his Companions glad tidings of it. So if Muslims rejoice in it, give one another glad tidings, and congratulate one another on it, there is no blame on them, as the righteous Salaf did; for it is a great and blessed month in which one rejoices because of the expiation of sins, the removal of errors, and the competition in good deeds and other righteous works. Yes.
