The Ruling on Eating with and Sitting with One Who Abandons Prayer and Fasting
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He has another question as well, asking: Is it permissible to eat and drink in the house of a person who does not perform the prayer or the fast, knowing that he is over forty years old? What is the ruling on this? May Allah guide you. Thank you.
Answer: One who does not pray, it is not permissible to accept his invitation, nor to go to drink his coffee, nor to eat from his feast. Rather, he must be boycotted and he must be called to repent until he turns away from his falsehood. Indeed, the prayer is the pillar of Islam, and whoever abandons it commits disbelief. We ask Allah for safety. Therefore, the one who abandons it must be boycotted among the Muslims. He is not to be visited, his invitation is not to be accepted, he is not to be greeted with the salam, and his salam is not to be returned; because he has abandoned the pillar of Islam, and because it is the greatest of the pillars after the two testimonies. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2616Hasan (Darussalam) And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam).
Therefore, the one who abandons it intentionally is a disbeliever. We ask Allah for safety. He must be boycotted, he is not to be greeted with the salam, his salam is not to be returned, and his invitation is not to be accepted. It is obligatory for the one in authority to call him to repent. If he repents and turns away from his falsehood, that is well; otherwise, he must be killed. This is the correct position in this matter, and this is the position of the majority of the scholars. We ask Allah for safety and well-being. Yes.

The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salat
رأس الأمر الإسلام وعموده الصلاةThe covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
