Ruling on the prayer of one who omits a verse from the surah after al-Fatihah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a letter from Sudan. The sincere Muhammad Ali Abdullah says: “O honorable guiding scholars! May you remain in Allah’s protection and care, and peace be upon you and His mercy. I previously sent an inquiry about cutting the pillars. In fact, we answered it at the time. He says: Then I sent an inquiry about an imam with whom I had not prayed before, so I prayed with him the Friday obligatory prayer. The aforementioned imam, after al-Fatihah, recited the second surah and forgot a verse in it, and those near him did not inform him. Is there anything required of the ma’mum? I believe I did not know the answer—meaning: I did not know the answer; the word ‘ahqad’ is intended to mean ‘know’—I ask you to issue a fatwa on this, may Allah guide you?”
The Shaykh: And did the imam recite al-Fatihah?
The presenter: Yes, he recited al-Fatihah and the surah after it, but in the surah after it, he forgot a verse.
Answer: It does not harm. His forgetting the verse does not harm, my brother. It does not harm, and the prayer is valid. It does not harm. The important thing is al-Fatihah; when he completed al-Fatihah, praise be to Allah. The surah is a recommended practice, and if he leaves something of it, there is no blame on him. Yes.
