The Ruling on a Woman Working Outside Her Home

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The remainder of her question states: Is it obligatory for a woman to work as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to work? I mean working outside the house?
Answer: She may work, and indeed it is obligatory for her to work what sustains her and preserves her life if she has no money and no one to provide for her. It is obligatory for her to work in sewing or other crafts or trades she is skilled in, such as weaving or otherwise. She should do what she is able to do in a manner that does not involve mixing with men or being alone with men in her house, in a secure place where there is no suspicion. She should do what she is able to do, whether weaving, sewing, blacksmithing, or other things she is capable of, so that she can sustain herself and those under her care from her offspring. However, if she has someone who takes care of her affairs, such as a father or a husband, then she is not required to work. Rather, she should be content with that and work in her house in obedience to her husband. Yes.
