What is subject to zakah and what is not

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: Finally, he says: Enumerate for us everything in which zakah is obligatory and everything in which it is not obligatory?
The answer: Zakah is obligatory in gold, silver, and the currencies that people have now established, namely the known paper currency, and in trade goods intended for trade, such as lands, cars, water pumps, or lands, or anything else. These are also among the assets subject to zakah.
Likewise, crops and fruits, if they are ripe and reach the nisab, are subject to zakah, whether they are dates, grapes, grains, rice, or other grains; if they reach the nisab, they are subject to zakah.
Likewise, livestock: camels, cattle, and sheep. If they graze in the open, grazing for most of the year or the entire year, then zakah is due on them.
These are the assets subject to zakah: currencies, trade goods, what comes from the earth in the form of fruits and grains, and livestock. These are the assets subject to zakah. Yes.
As for the other assets, other than these, there is no zakah on them: the carpets you own, the cars you drive, the buildings you live in, and the like, and the lands you rent out or the buildings you rent out and the like of these matters. There is no zakah on these, there is no zakah on them. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
