Is the prayer of repentance prescribed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I, O Shaykh, perform two rak'ahs of repentance every night before sleeping for any sin I have committed, and I seek Allah's forgiveness, and I call upon Him to forgive me every transgression. Is this correct, or not?

Answer:
This is good, this is a good deed, and it is among the causes of repentance. Yes, and whether it is at the end of the night, or in the middle of the night, or during the Duha time, or at Dhuhr, or at any time other than the prohibited times, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh! Is there a prayer called the prayer of repentance?

The Shaykh : ... It is this one, as narrated by Ali from al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) Ali ibn Abi Talib, the Commander of the Faithful (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated it from al-Siddiq Abu Bakr, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
There is no servant who purifies himself, perfects the purification, then prays two rak'ahs, then repents to Allah from a sin, but that Allah forgives him.ما من عبد يتطهر، فيحسن الطهور، ثم يصلي ركعتين، ثم يتوب إلى الله من ذنب إلا غفر الله له
or as he said, peace and blessings be upon him.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good. Do you encourage the Muslim to make use of these two rak'ahs, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : All of this is good, whether it is with prayer or without prayer. Repentance is obligatory. Allah the Exalted says:
O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance.يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحًا
[Al-Tahrim: 8] And He the Exalted says:
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
[An-Nur: 31]. Repentance is: regretting the past evils, ceasing from them and leaving them, and guarding against them; out of magnifying Allah and fearing Him, along with the sincere resolve not to return to them. This is repentance. For the believer to regret the past evils, whether zina, or undutifulness to parents, or drinking intoxicants, or something else, to regret them with sincere regret, and to resolve not to return to them, and to cease from them and leave them; out of fear of Allah, magnification of Allah, and sincerity to Him, this constitutes repentance. And if it is accompanied by a prayer of two rak'ahs; it becomes more complete and more complete. Yes.
And if the right belongs to people; it is necessary to be absolved by them from it, or to give them their rights if the repentance is from a sin related to people; injustice to people; then a fourth matter is necessary: which is that they absolve him from that thing, or he gives them their rights, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
