The ruling on a woman making her hair into a single braid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Braiding the hair into a single braid?

Answer:
There is no harm; she may put it all behind her. There is nothing wrong with that. And if she makes it three braids, two on the sides and one for the forelock behind, all of that is good, if Allah wills. The two braids mean one on the right and one on the left, and the forelock is behind her between her shoulders. All of this is good. Yes. And if she gathers it all and puts it behind her, there is nothing wrong with it. The matter is broad in this regard. Yes.

The presenter : Praise be to Allah. May Allah reward you with good. I do not know who disturbs people with such ideas, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : I do not know, I do not know of any basis for it. But if it is in death, it is better to put it all behind. She gathers it all behind her back, as Umm 'Atiyyah did with the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) daughter; she gathered it and put it behind her back.

The presenter : Behind her back?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The presenter : In a single braid?

The Shaykh : In a single braid. As for in life, she does what is more beautiful, what she sees as more beautiful among the people of her land. If the people of her land make braids, she makes braids. And if they put it behind their backs, there is nothing wrong with it. And if they make it three, two on the right and left, and one behind the back, there is nothing wrong with it; because the intention is to adorn oneself. If the people of her land have a custom and a way of adorning themselves with this hair, she does as the people of her land do, and there is no harm in that. The matter is broad in this regard.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
