Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: There are people in our markets who buy and sell butter and honey, and this merchandise is adulterated, yet they swear by Allah that it is not adulterated. What do you advise them?
Answer:
It is obligatory for the believer to guard against deception in butter, in honey, and in other things, and it is obligatory for him to fulfill trust and be truthful; for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 2225Da'if (Darussalam) And Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Nisa: 58] And He the Exalted says: [Al-Anfal: 27], and He (Exalted and Majestic is He) says in describing the believers: [Al-Mu'minun: 8].
So it is obligatory for one who engages in buying and selling to fear Allah, to seek trustworthiness, and to guard against deception and betrayal in butter, in honey, and in other things. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by a pile of food in the market, put his hand into it, and his fingers came out wet. He said:Bulugh al-Maram 7:45 The man said: O Messenger of Allah! The sky touched it—meaning: rain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: .
If he places the bad at the bottom of the dates, or the fruits, or the grains, and places the good on top so that people see the good and the bad is hidden from them, this is deception. Likewise, if he mixes into the butter something that is not butter, or into the honey something that is not honey, this is deception. Yes.

Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due
O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence].
And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive
So it is obligatory for one who engages in buying and selling to fear Allah, to seek trustworthiness, and to guard against deception and betrayal in butter, in honey, and in other things. What is this, O owner of the grain?
!Did you not place it on top of the food? Did you not place it on top of the food so that people could see it? Whoever deceives us is not one of us.
If he places the bad at the bottom of the dates, or the fruits, or the grains, and places the good on top so that people see the good and the bad is hidden from them, this is deception.
