The ruling on those who missed part of the prayer and appointed one of them as their imam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener named Abbas Yusuf Hakim from the village of 'Uqdat al-Ahkam in the Jizan region sent a question, saying: If a group of about three or four people arrive while the imam is sitting in the final tashahhud, and these three join this obligatory prayer, and when the imam says the taslim, these people stand up, one of them steps forward, leads them, and prays with them, we ask you to clarify whether what they did is correct?

Answer:
Their prayer is valid, and there is nothing wrong with it, but it is better to leave that practice and have each person make up the missed portion for himself. This is what should be done; each person should make up for himself. This is because when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was joined by 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf during the Battle of Tabuk, he had prayed one rak'ah with the people. He prayed the remaining rak'ah with 'Abd al-Rahman and al-Mughirah. When 'Abd al-Rahman said the taslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and al-Mughirah stood up, and each one made up the rak'ahs he had missed for himself. So this is the best: that each person makes up for himself, and there is no need for one of them to step forward and pray with them. However, their prayer is valid, and we do not know of anything that prevents its validity. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
