Ruling on accepting a gift from a mushrik

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner asks: Is it permissible to accept a gift from a mushrik?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation: If the gift does not involve any harm to a Muslim, such that the disbeliever does not use it to dominate him, or does not become bold against the Muslims, and no harm results from it, then the Muslim should accept it and reciprocate with a gift of equal value or better. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted gifts from some people and returned gifts to others; he accepted some gifts from mushrikin and did not accept the gifts of others.
If accepting the gift is more beneficial, such that it leads to reconciling his heart and making him love the Muslims, and if he gives more in return than what was given to him, then he should accept it. However, if accepting the gift causes harm to the Muslims, or if the giver becomes bold against the Muslims, or harms them, or does things that harm them because of this gift, or if the recipient of the gift ends up loving the mushrik giver and cooperating with him in matters that harm the Muslims, then he should not accept it, so that it does not harm him and so that it does not lead him to falsehood.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
