Is it permissible to kiss the head of one who abandons prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the listening brothers, and at its end was an illegible signature. The entire letter, containing six questions, revolves around one who abandons prayer, especially if he is a father or an uncle. This one who abandons prayer may only pray the Friday prayer, or he may pray some of the obligatory prayers and abandon the others.
He asks the Shaykh, may Allah honor him, whether it is permissible to kiss their heads, and whether it is permissible to greet them first. He requests guidance on this serious matter, as he observes its prevalence in many places. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Abandoning prayer is a great crime and a heinous evil. The scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, differed regarding the disbelief of the one who does not deny its obligation, but rather abandons it out of laziness and negligence. Some of them said: it becomes minor shirk (associating partners with Allah). And some of them said: rather, he disbelieves with major shirk (associating partners with Allah). And this is the correct view, even if he prays the Friday prayer at some times, or prays at some times; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها؛ فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
; and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): between
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayerالرجل، وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
.
So the correct view is: that it becomes major shirk (associating partners with Allah). But if the one who abandons it is the parents, or one of them, then you are gentle with them, and you advise them, as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said regarding the disbelievers:
but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindnessوَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا
[Luqman: 15]. Because the parent has a great right, and even if he is a disbeliever, you must be gentle with him, and accompany him with kindness; perhaps Allah will guide him through your means. If you kiss his head hoping that Allah will guide him because of that, then there is no harm in that. This is from kindness
but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindnessوَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا
[Luqman: 15]. And supplicating for him that Allah will make him successful, guide him, and expand his chest to the truth. And spending on him if he is in need. All of that is among the causes of his guidance.
As for other than the parents, if he does not accept the truth; then he is boycotted. He deserves to be boycotted. His invitation to a wedding, or anything else, is not accepted. He is not invited to a feast. He is not shaken hands with. He is not greeted with salam. Rather, he is boycotted until he repents. And it should be reported to the one in authority if he is in an Islamic land. His case is reported to the one in authority so that he is asked to repent. If he repents, and if not, it is obligatory to kill him according to the majority of the scholars of knowledge.
